I was born in Britain but have spent most of my life trying to figure out how America works by living there. So, if you find a British flavor in my books, don’t be surprised. I’ve had short stories and essays published in journals, and my debut women’s fiction novel is currently on submission. Unlike many writers, I can’t write in coffee shops because they’re too distracting, and I only drink coffee as a last resort. But I began my first novel on a bus in Vietnam, so there’s that.

I live in Connecticut in a cottage that’s American on the outside, and English inside. If I’m not writing or traveling, I’ll be in my flower garden, wondering whether to weed, and holding a cup of my preferred beverage, strong English tea – I believe Earl Gray is for the weak.

I run writers’ groups IRL and on Zoom, and you can find me all over the internet. Check my social media links below.

I run two monthly Meetups for writers in Connecticut, WritersMic, an open mic evening on the third Tuesday, and the Westport Writers’ Rendezvous, a get-together on the third Wednesday. Currently, these are running on Zoom.

And every week I’m running virtual write-in Mondays from 10-11:45am EST. Join us and write for two 45-minute sessions, It’s amazing how much writing gets done! Contact me for the link.

NFPW logoThe Write Connexion won 2019 awards from the CT Press Club and the NFPW, and is dedicated to anything useful I find for writers, some of it local, and some of it of more general interest. I interview writers, give you useful links for writers’ info around the web, and generally help you connect with anything which will help you write more, better, or at all!

  1. Hi Gabi,

Your short story excerpt is beautiful – lovely language and a comfortable nostalgic sense that soothes. I think I see Miggs Burrough’s “What If?” in the pile of books in the picture above, so we share him as a friend as well as Tricia! We met at the Pitchapalooza…All the best, Lea

  2. I like your excerpt as well. I stopped by because you visited me, and I always like to return the favor. And lo, here I found another writer. How much fun is that? I’ll look forward to more visits in the future both directions. 🙂 Marsha 🙂

  3. Hi, Gaby, having a rummage in your website, prior to returning your ‘follow’ on Twitter. Loving your blogs, especially as they’re diverse, and not formulaic! I think we’ve all become a little jaded by those writers who prattle incessantly about their books without ever leaving their narcissistic bubble! Great stuff, Gabi, looking forward to more of the same! Kevin Ansbro.
