About Me

Award-winning British-born writer and blogger
Welcome to my website. I hope you’ll enjoy exploring it, checking out my books, my blog for readers with some of my writing, and the writer’s page, with helpful suggestions for writers.
A little bit about me. My current novel, A Field Guide to Library Ghosts, was published in October 2025 by Atmosphere Press. It’s the second book in the Brentford Novels series, and the first, A Beginner's Guide to Starting Over,  came out in 2023. My memoir, Love's Journey Home, was published in May 2022. Check them out on the Books page.
My work has appeared in several anthologies, too, including the Connecticut Literary Journal (2024) and a book of historical fiction: Feisty Deeds, Volume 2 (2025).
Unlike many writers, I can’t write in coffee shops because they’re too distracting, and I only drink coffee as a last resort. I live in Connecticut in a cottage that’s American on the outside, and English inside. If I'm not reading, writing, or traveling, you'll find me in my flower garden, holding a cup of my preferred beverage, strong English tea, and wondering whether to do some weeding.
To learn more and to get advance news and special bonus materials, I hope you’ll sign up for my newsletter or follow me on Substack.

Check the events page for information about my upcoming book signings and appearances – I’d love to meet you!

There are also writing events, like my monthly Meetups for writers in Connecticut, and the weekly Zoom write-ins where we write for two 45-minute sessions. It’s amazing how much writing gets done! All these events are free.

I’ve won several awards for my writing. My memoir and my first novel have both come first in contests, and I’m hoping my new novel will too. Fingers crossed!
