October 18, 2011 - 6:05 pm ·Thanks Gabi. This really brings us back to one of the most importat roles of parenting . . . read, read, read to, and with your child. Let the child dictate the books, and it’s important not to edit their choices. We read non-fiction to our 3-year-old son, such as THE 200 YEAR HISTORY OF FORT TICONDERGA because that was what he was interested in. To this day he is an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction, and can conceptualize, frame his thoughts, and communicate complex topics.
